We are a church where God is Still Speaking!
Our symbol is the comma, because to quote Gracie Allen: "Never put a period where God has placed a comma."
You often hear some other Christians say, "God said it - period!" We believe that God has not stopped relating to humankind; rather, in every generation "God is Still Speaking" and helps us through our most contemporary situations.
We welcome all people, just as Christ welcomed all.
No matter who you are or where you are in YOUR journey through life, you will ALWAYS be welcome at Emmanuel!
This is a place where intellect and faith merge within a loving family of belivers.
Come and experience how "God is Still Speaking" through all of us.
The emblem of the United Church of Christ is based on the ancient Christian symbol known as the Cross of Victory or the Cross Triumphant.
Traditionally, this symbol - the cross surmounted by the crown and all of it atop the orb - signifies the kingship of the Risen Christ over all the world. The orb, representing the world, is divided into three parts. To many, this signifies the command of the Lord to his disciples: "You shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth." For others, it is a reminder that our faith is the meeting place of humankind and God )the vertical beam), but also is lived out neighbor-to-neighbor (horizontal band).
Along with our name in the surrounding oval is the text: "That they may all be one." (John 17:21) Through it, as through our lives, we proclaim that we are a "united and uniting church." We believe that a spirit of church cooperation is not simply useful, but God's way for us all.
